SAN GIMIGNANO : THE VILLAGE OF THE TOWERS
San Gimignano, a small fortified city halfway between Florence and Siena, is famous for its architecture and for its beautiful medieval towers that make the city unique profile.
In the most flourishing period, the rich families of San Gimignano arrived to build as many as 72 towers as a symbol of their wealth and power. Today there are 14 of these that help make even more fascinating the small town atmosphere.
Declared Patrimony of 'Humanity' by UNESCO in 1990, San Gimignano is a small pearl of the province of Siena and also offers excellent local products such as saffron and white wine called Vernaccia di San Gimignano
